The 9th edition of the Zagreb Film Festival will be held in Zagreb, 16th-23rd October 2011

The deadline for submitting your films for its competition programme is 15th August . 

You can submit the first or second films by authors in the feature film, short fiction and documentary category by using our online application form. Additionally, Croatian authors can submit their films that are not longer than 30 minutes to the competition programme Checkers . 

Founded in 2003, the Zagreb Film Festival presents first films and new authors in its competition programme as well as new short films by Croatian authors in the Checkers programme. Before attracting broader international attention, 'The Return' by Russian director Andrey Zvjagintsev was awarded first prize on the very first edition of the Zagreb Film Festival (2003). Also, international hit 'The Lives of Others' by Florian Henckel von Donnersmarck recieved its first international award in Zagreb in 2004. 

So far, the ZFF competition programme has hosted films by renowned directors such as Li Yang, Anton Corbijn, Corneliu Porumboiu, Radu Jude, directors trio Gordon – Abel - Romy and Šejla Kamerić, while the Croatian films programme Checkers introduced numerous national directors (Matija Kluković, Ivan Goran Vitez, Juraj Lerotić, Sara Hribar, Hana Jušić etc.).
